Will the TCEQ ask Houstonians to pay higher taxes for more pollution?

March 27th, 2010

In TLCV’s 2009 Legislative Scorecard, we graded the Texas Senate’s appointment of Bryan Shaw
to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as a bad vote citing concern that Shaw would
not look out for the health and safety of the public.  In this report, KVUE News in Austin investigates
whether the TCEQ may soon greenlight a tax break for the Valero Corporation which would lead
to more pollution and higher taxes for Houstonians.  Make sense?  We didn’t think so either.
